More than just a vintage piece, this is a "jacket that saw real action in the field." Based on the B-15D, it is a fascinating example that has been modified with a focus on practicality. The size is estimated to be around 40–42.

While the standard B-15D features a stand-up collar, this piece has been modified to a ribbed collar, transforming its silhouette to closely resemble that of an MA-1. This customization is known to have been performed in actual field conditions to prevent interference with helmets and gear, making it a detail unique to real-world use. It is an extremely compelling feature that embodies the evolutionary process of military gear.

The front zipper has been replaced, but the work is meticulous and natural, leaving no sense of incongruity. Rather, as a practical, realistic repair, it further enhances the overall atmosphere.

A prominent “494th TFS” patch adorns the chest. The rank insignia and name tags are not issued by the military but are believed to have been personally procured at the PX or similar outlets; as such, these details strongly reflect the pilot’s individuality and sense of belonging. This piece powerfully conveys its actual history of use.

The 494th Tactical Fighter Squadron was a combat unit of the U.S. Air Force that operated from the Vietnam War era through the Cold War. It was primarily responsible for tactical bombing and attack missions and is known for operating aircraft such as the F-111 from its base in Europe (particularly RAF Lakenheath in the UK).Considering that this equipment was used under the intense pressure of actual combat, the background of this jacket is incredibly rich. Since it is hand-sewn, it is unclear whether the patch was sewn on by the owner later or added in subsequent years. Given the squadron’s history, it would not be surprising if it had been worn, but the authenticity of the squadron patch remains unknown.

The tag is covered in white fabric, making it impossible to read the details clearly, but based on the details and specifications, it can be identified as a modified version based on the B-15D (late 1950s to early 1960s). The size is estimated to be around 40–42, a very comfortable range that fits well. The silhouette also fits perfectly with modern styles.

Condition: Used. While there are signs of wear, the overall look—including the modifications and repairs—is very well put together, and it’s brimming with the charm of a one-of-a-kind piece. It’s a truly unique item that combines elements of both the B-15D and the MA-1. This is a masterpiece that we highly recommend, whether as a collector’s item or as a jacket to wear in real life. Please note that since this is a used item, returns are not accepted.
