U.S. AIR FORCE N-3B parka with black tag, made in 1950s. This is one of the earliest lots of this model, known as a masterpiece of flight jackets, and is representative of the heavy outerwear for cold weather that the U.S. military introduced in earnest after the Air Force became independent. It is manufactured by the prestigious "ALBERT TURNER & CO. INC." and is LARGE and golden in size.
This unit is characterized by the unusual detail of reflector tape sewn onto the arms and back. This is believed to be a custom done mainly by ground crews in cold climates to ensure safety during night work. Not only pilots and crew members, but also ground crew members who supported aircraft takeoffs and landings on the runway wore N-3Bs, and these pieces are very interesting documents that remind us of their presence.
This piece retains the rugged construction typical of early N-3Bs, with its double zips, thick padding, and non-removable hood. Although there are strong stains and signs of use on the front, it has a powerful look with realistic aging commensurate with its age. You can fully enjoy the charm of military uniforms, and it is truly "wearable vintage".
It can still be used for practical purposes, of course, and as a collection piece or a styling spice, it is a piece that radiates a one-of-a-kind presence. This item is in good condition with some stains and signs of use. There is a slight tear on the inner lining of the hood. Please check the photos for details and we recommend that you understand the characteristics of vintage clothing.
