This is an Okinawa Tiger-pattern tiger-stripe shirt manufactured and used around the mid-1960s. It features a U.S. cut, with a two-button chest and sleeve patch pockets. It is identical to the pattern also known as JWD or John Wayne.Alongside the Silver Tiger pattern, the Okinawa Tiger pattern comes in many color variations and lots, and there are numerous differences between versions, such as those sewn on the mainland versus those sewn in Okinawa. Among tiger-stripe patterns, this one has been in use since relatively early on, and in old photographs of the CIDG and other units, many American advisors and local soldiers can be seen wearing this pattern.

This is a vest modified by cutting off the sleeves of a mid-period Okinawa Tiger US-S size shirt.The “US-S” stamp remains, and it features directly embroidered “RECON” and South Vietnamese jump wings. These are presumed to have been added after the war. The fabric has faded and appears somewhat whitish. Some of the buttons have been replaced. There are some minor repairs. This is a used item.
