An authentic U.S. military 3rd Model jungle fatigue jacket, believed to date from around 1966–1967.

This rare piece features a stamped size tag and contract number. The size is X-SMALL-REGULAR.

It is one of the military garments that symbolizes the Vietnam War era, and among the many jungle jackets, this piece is particularly appealing for its unique details characteristic of the transitional period between the early and late models.

This particular jacket is a 3rd Model made from non-ripstop fabric. Furthermore, it features a rare stamped specification where the size and contract information are printed directly onto the fabric, making it a must-have for vintage military enthusiasts.

The jungle fatigues jacket was developed as combat attire for tropical regions to cope with the hot and humid conditions of the Vietnam War. Characterized by a design that prioritizes breathability, lightness, and practicality, its distinctive four-pocket style—featuring a large, diagonally placed chest pocket and a flap pocket at the waist—remains highly popular to this day.

In the 3rd Model, elements seen in the early versions—such as shoulder epaulets and waist adjustment tabs—were omitted, evolving into a simpler and more refined design. Its functional beauty, stripped of all unnecessary elements, stands out, establishing a style that can be considered the definitive form of the jungle jacket. A major appeal of this particular piece is its non-ripstop cotton poplin fabric.

Unlike the grid-patterned ripstop fabric that became standard in the later 4th Model, this jacket features a flat fabric texture without a visible grid pattern on the surface. Lightweight and soft, the unique wrinkles and fading that develop with repeated wear create an atmosphere unique to vintage pieces.

The 3rd Model, made from this non-ripstop fabric, is particularly popular among collectors as it represents the quintessential mid-Vietnam War jungle fatigues.

Another noteworthy detail is the stamped marking on the inside of the collar.

While most standard jungle jackets have size tags or contract labels sewn on, this one has the size and contract information printed directly onto the fabric.

This stamped specification is a fascinating detail that differs from standard fabric labels and offers insight into the jacket’s production period and manufacturing specifications.

Although the print has faded over the years, traces of it can still be seen today.

Additionally, traces of patches that were once attached to the chest and sleeves remain, offering details that allow one to imagine how the jacket was used back then.

Including the natural fading and stains visible throughout the jacket, as well as the wear marks along the seams, the overall finish conveys the unique impact of an authentic vintage piece.

It is precisely because of its simple appearance—with the patches removed—that the jungle jacket’s original silhouette and details stand out, making it a versatile piece that can be easily incorporated into a variety of styles.

It pairs perfectly with denim or chinos, of course, but we also recommend styling it with military trousers from the same era.

Featuring 1960s non-ripstop fabric, the refined design unique to the 3rd Model, and rare stamped markings,

This is an incredibly fascinating jungle fatigue jacket that allows you to fully appreciate the history and charm unique to authentic military gear from the Vietnam War era.

This is an authentic, used item from that era.

It shows overall signs of wear from use, and the fabric exhibits fading and stains.

Brownish stains are visible on the lower front and around the pockets, and there are signs of wear and color changes due to age.

Additionally, there are marks where patches have been removed from the chest and sleeves.

The stamped markings have faded with age, but they remain as valuable details unique to vintage items.

This is a piece that allows you to enjoy the unique character of authentic military gear that has stood the test of time.
