Australian Army Jungle Green Tropical Combat Trousers, manufactured in 1967, right in the midst of the Vietnam War.

This pair still bears the issued label reading “ASCO / W.A. / 1967 / SIZE 4 / D↑D.” These are authentic Australian Army trousers from the Vietnam War era—collecting them from different manufacturers can be quite interesting.

In the 1960s, the Australian Army deployed troops to the Vietnam War, and from 1966 onward, they operated in South Vietnam primarily as part of the 1st Australian Task Force. 1967 was right in the thick of it. Jungle Green tropical uniforms like this one are among the pieces of equipment that symbolize the Australian Army of that era.

The design is highly distinctive. It features deep front pleats, a wide waistband, button-fastened belt loops, and adjuster straps on both sides of the waist. It also has flap-covered back pockets and a cargo pocket on one side.

Above all, these pants have a great silhouette.

They maintain substantial volume around the waist while tapering naturally toward the hem—a classic military trouser silhouette. With details that clearly distinguish them from U.S. Army Vietnam War-era trousers, they possess a distinct presence unique to Australian military gear.

The fabric is a sturdy olive green cotton twill. As you can see in the photos, the fabric retains its firm texture and deep color. The combination with brown-toned buttons also creates a wonderful vintage vibe characteristic of this era.

On the inside, the label reading “ASCO W.A. / 1967 / SIZE 4” remains clearly visible, with the “D↑D” marking below it—indicating that this was an Australian military issue item. It’s a real bonus that the label, which confirms the era, manufacturer, and size, has been preserved so well.

As with the previous YAKKA pair, the condition is excellent—it appears to be unused. There are almost no noticeable signs of wear, and the fabric’s color remains vibrant. Considering these are military pants manufactured over half a century ago—during the Vietnam War era—their state of preservation is truly remarkable.

One of the fascinating aspects of issued military gear is that even items made in the same year—1967—can have different labels and subtle variations depending on the manufacturer. This pair is made by ASCO W.A., dated 1967, features the D↑D marking, and is in what appears to be unused condition.

Not only are they a pleasure to wear, but they’re also highly recommended as a collector’s item for those delving into Australian military uniforms from the Vietnam War era.
