The inner contract label confirms the following details: “COAT, MAN’S, COTTON W/R RIP-STOP POPLIN, OG-107, CLASS 1,” DSA 100-68-C-2416, and the contractor ALLEN OVERALL CO., INC. This garment, bearing a 1968 contract number, dates from the height of the Vietnam War.

What particularly catches the eye on this piece is the U.S. ARMY tape remaining on the left chest. This is not a later reproduction but has been there since the garment was new. It gives the jacket a strong, authentic feel distinct from plain-colored versions. On the opposite side, there are traces where the name tag was removed, giving it a character unique to a garment that has actually been worn.

The body shows fading from wear, and the characteristic wear patterns typical of cotton ripstop fabric are particularly evident on the pockets, collar, and seams. This uneven olive green fading and the texture of the fabric are the greatest charms of an authentic jungle fatigues jacket. It’s an atmosphere forged over time—one that a brand-new item could never replicate.

Although it shows signs of wear and fading, the condition is good considering its age. Despite being a functional item from about 60 years ago, it’s in a condition that allows you to fully enjoy it as vintage apparel today.
