The 4th Model Jungle Fatigue Jacket—the quintessential field uniform of the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. This item was produced under a 1969 contract and is a MEDIUM-REGULAR size. It dates back to a time when the Vietnam War was intensifying.
The most distinctive feature of the 4th Model is its ripstop fabric, designed for use in tropical regions. Although thin and lightweight, the fabric has a unique texture created by the grid-like pattern of reinforcing threads running across its surface. The faded appearance that develops through repeated wear and washing is a hallmark of vintage Jungle Fatigue jackets.
Four large flap pockets arranged diagonally, a double-breasted front, and OD-colored ripstop fabric. This polished design not only embodies the functional beauty of military uniforms but also exudes an overwhelming sense of style even when viewed as contemporary fashion.
Furthermore, a major attraction of this particular piece is the “SEVERANCE” and “U.S. ARMY” name tapes on the chest. These chest tapes remain in their original condition, having been attached since the jacket’s original production. The atmosphere of these tapes, which have aged and blended seamlessly with the jacket itself through years of wear, is something that simply cannot be replicated by attempting to recreate them later.
On the other hand, the patches other than the chest tape—such as the rank insignia and branch insignia on the collar, the unit insignia on the sleeves, and the emblem above the chest pocket—have been restored with later additions.
Therefore, please enjoy this item not as a completely original, patched piece, but as a restored piece that recreates the atmosphere of the Vietnam War era, based on a vintage jacket and the original chest patches.
As you can see in the photos, the ripstop fabric shows the fading characteristic of a well-worn piece, with particularly pronounced, three-dimensional wear patterns visible on the pockets, collar, and seams. This uneven OD coloration is precisely the charm unique to an original piece that has endured for over half a century.
The size is a very versatile MEDIUM-REGULAR.
The fabric’s texture, fading, stitching, and the historical context of 1969 are qualities you simply cannot experience with a replica.
This is a piece we can recommend both to those who want to actually wear and enjoy a jungle fatigues jacket from the Vietnam War era and to those who simply want to enjoy the vibe of a “patched-up” style.
This is a used item.
It features the authentic worn-in look and fading typical of genuine vintage items, with wear marks primarily around the pockets and seams. It has the excellent character unique to well-worn ripstop fabric—something you won’t find on a brand-new item.
With the exception of the chest tape, the patches have been added later, so this is not an original full-patch piece. Please understand that this is a restored item.
As this is a used item, returns are not accepted. Thank you for your understanding.
