Based on an authentic U.S. military 4th Model jungle fatigue jacket from 1969, this special piece features a spray-painted camouflage pattern recreated by our store, inspired by the designs used by MACV-SOG personnel. While the jacket itself is authentic, the paintwork is different.

During the Vietnam War, MACV-SOG carried out extremely specialized missions even among U.S. military special operations units.
Known by the acronym Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group, this organization was a top-secret special operations unit established in 1964.
They were primarily engaged in dangerous missions such as reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, prisoner rescue, and sabotage in North Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Their equipment differed significantly from that of standard U.S. soldiers.
Due to the nature of their missions—which involved infiltrating deep into enemy territory—it was not uncommon for them to modify their gear to suit the local environment and mission requirements, rather than being confined to standard issue.
Particularly interesting among these was a form of camouflage unique to the field: spray-painting their issued uniforms.
They would spray black, brown, and other colors directly onto standard OG-107 green jungle fatigues to create irregular camouflage patterns. Unlike mass-produced camouflage uniforms, these reflected the soldiers’ own judgment and ingenuity, resulting in a truly diverse range of finishes.
This particular piece was crafted in our shop, inspired by the field customizations performed by special forces units of that era.
The base jacket is an authentic U.S. Army 4th Model from the 1969 contract.
Made from ripstop cotton, it is a classic Jungle Fatigue jacket representative of the Vietnam War era.
We spray-painted this authentic jacket using two colors: black and brown.
The camouflage pattern overlaps irregularly from the shoulders to the chest, sleeves, and back.
The back, in particular, features striking spray-paint work, creating a unique look where black and brown seem to blend into the olive green fabric.
By varying the intensity of the paint and the way the edges are blurred, I aimed to recreate the rough yet incredibly captivating atmosphere of camouflage applied by soldiers in the field back then.
Another key point is that the base is an actual vintage jacket.
The texture of the fabric itself and the signs of aging—things that a brand-new replica could never capture—are key.
Combined with the spray-painted camouflage, it exudes a presence entirely distinct from standard jungle fatigues.
Please note that this is not the original spray camouflage from that era. The camouflage paint is a reproduction created by MILITARIA 1911.
This piece pays homage to the gear of historical special forces while reviving that atmosphere for the modern era.
It comes in a popular, comfortable size and makes a strong statement even when paired with simple pants.
Additionally, the paint will gradually fade with repeated wear and washing.
Including this change, one of the interesting aspects is how its appearance evolves the more you wear it.
