This is an actual 1971 G-1 flight jacket, a masterpiece that carries the tradition of the U.S. Naval Air Force to this day. The tag bears the contract number DSA100-71-C-343, and the manufacture is BRILL BROS.... Specifications are in accordance with MIL-J-7823E (AS), Vietnam War period or later. Size 42.
The thick goatskin leather remains moist and shiny and is in good condition with few cracks. The dark brown sheepskin mouton collar ties the whole look together and gives it a regal appearance. The lining and zipper are also in good condition, and there are no practical problems. The waist ribs are slightly damaged, but the sleeve ribs are in good condition and do not affect the wearability of the jacket. The appeal of the G-1 is not limited to a simple leather jacket, but lies in the weight of the naval aviation history behind it and the pride of the men behind it. This piece of G-1 also has the history behind it.
