This is an actual U.S. Navy G-1 flight jacket from the 1977 contract lot. It is a size 40, a popular size. The Navy's G-1 was developed in the 1930s and was a flight jacket worn mainly by fighter pilots in the Marine Corps as well as the U.S. Navy. It is a leather flight jacket with a long history, having been used until the 1970s. The Army was involved in the development of this jacket, but as a result, it was used by the Navy and Marine Corps. It was officially adopted again in 1984 due to high demand.
